Q. I am moving to Uganda for four years and would like to know which vegetable and herbs I will be able to grow there. The tropical climate is moderated by altitude. Average daily maximums are around 80F and minimums around 62F nearly all year. Rainfall is well spread. A. Uganda has almost an ideal growing climate. You can grow virtually any vegetable, herb, or fruit. Just make certain you garden near a reliable water source, and don't depend on rains to water your garden. Fast-growing vegetables need watering almost every day in warm climates. An excellent vegetable database is contained on the Garden Master CD, available at www.growfood.com. You'll learn everything you need to know including what, when, and where to plant, as well as expected yields for all the popular vegetables. And take some Mittleider Micro Nutrients, also available at www.growfood.com in the Materials section, as well as Borax and Epsom Salt with you!! You'll be able to get the macro-nutrients (nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium), as well as a source of calcium or lime, but the micros may be difficult to find. Success to you. Join the free Mittleider Method Gardening Group on YahooGroups.com - you can do so right on this website. This way you can share your experiences with thousands of other interested Mittleider-Method gardeners, and learn from them as well. The Mittleider Gardening books and Manuals teach all you need to know about this subject, and can be purchased in the Store section, or as digital downloads. A digital copy costs 30-40% less, and is available instantly! I HIGHLY recommend you look here http://www.hightechhomestead.com/Products.htm for the best gardening books available anywhere!
