Direction of Boxes - Important?

Author: Jim Kennard

Q. We're setting up a grow-box garden in Saint Martin in the French West Indies (tropical @ 18 degrees N) and need to know whether it would be best to orient the boxes East-West or North-South. Thanks! A. The direction of your boxes or rows of plants is not important. What IS important is that you plant your tall plants to the North of your short plants, so they do not shade them. If you can't plant tall plants on the North, plant them to the East of short plants.
